MX 2800 Series:
The MX2800 is a M13 multiplexer that consolidates T1 and E1 signals into a
T3 circuit. This unit provides a cost-effective, versatile tool for combining independent
T1s, E1s or a combination of the two over the same T3 circuit. It also houses two
hot-swappable controller cards which provide 1:1 redundancy for the T1 and
T3 signals, as well as the T3 connections.
Embedded simple network management protocol (SNMP) and Telnet are available
through the modem port using serial line Internet protocol/point-to-point (SLIP/PPP)
or through the 10BASE-T Ethernet port. Using the Management Information Base II (MIB
II), RFC 1407 standards and an ADTRAN enterprise MIIB, the MX2800 can be
configured, monitored and diagnosed with standard SNMP network management
programs such as Hewlett Packard's HP OpenView and Cabletron's Spectrum. In
addition, the SysLog Host Daemon allows remote monitoring, collecting and logging of
MX2800 events in real time. This information is useful during installation setups
and/or troubleshooting.
Complete configuration, loopbacks and performance monitoring are available through
SNMP, Telnet or a VT100 terminal interface. This connection can be made via Ethernet,
a local EIA-232 link or through the built-in V.34 modem. The modem can dial out a "cry
for help" for units located in unmanned facilities. The MX2800 is designed for
installation in a 19- or 23-inch rack.

ADTRAN has applied its industry-leading expertise in developing carrier class products
to the MX2810 M13 multiplexer. The MX2810 offers bandwidth consolidation at a low
price and in the smallest footprint available in the industry. Measuring only 1U high in
19- or 23-inch rack-mount configurations, this compact device gives ILECs a powerful
tool for consolidating 28 T1 signals or 21 E1 signals into a T3 circuit.
Like all ADTRAN products, the MX2810 offers comprehensive management options,
including full management and GUI support from ADTRAN's Total Access EMS. It
features a VT100 terminal interface for local configuration. To support SNMP and
Telnet management, the MX2810 has an integrated 10BASE-T Ethernet port. It has an
RS-232 port for network management, as well as an RS-485 port for daisy chaining
multiple units. TL1 alarming and provisioning are also supported.
The MX2810 meets the most stringent NEBS Level 3 requirements. In addition, the
product is backed by an industry-leading 10-year warranty.

MX2820 Series:
M13 deployment, the technology that enables multiple T1 delivery from a single T3, is
a fairly elementary yet important art for telecommunications carriers. Demand for T1s
is affected by existing remote terminals (RTs) that are space constrained. Supplying a
carrier-case multiplexer that can significantly increase T1 output while minimizing
space that has been the challenge for telecommunications equipment providers.
Carriers facing costs for IP addressing save money because M13 capability can be
added yet each MX2820 uses only a single IP address.
In areas where multiple M13s are needed, the ADTRAN MX2820 High-Density
M13 multiplexer frees up valuable rack space with a high-density chassis. The
MX2820 houses up to 18 multiplexer cards to provide nine redundant
M13 multiplexers in a 23-inch chassis and two rack units of space. Up to seven
redundant M13 multiplexers can be based in a 19-inch chassis. In addition, the
M2820 can provide up to 81 M13s in a 7-foot bay using active cooling (fans and heat
baffles) or up to 63 M13s in a 7-foot bay using passive cooling (heat baffles).
The MX2820 MUX cards are capable of combining independent T1s, E1s or T1s and E1s
on the same DS3. Each pair of MUX cards provides built-in 1:1 redundancy on the
DS1 and DS3 signals. Advanced diagnostics include CSU loopbacks, NIU loopbacks,
C-bit loopbacks and built-in BERT (bit error rate testing) capabilities.
